From Carol
The weather
prediction was
warmer temperatures and no snow for a few days so we
have taken this
opportunity to check on our place in Wiarton. The roads
were great
coming up, even the shoulders were plowed. The picture
is looking out
at our deck from the sunroom. The snow has knocked over
our forsythia
hedge. Al hasn’t shoveled his way to the backyard yet to
check on
the roof. The bay is a sea of white so there shouldn’t
be anymore
lake effects snow going forward. I was talking to our
cousin Greg in
Ridley and he said there has been several times this
winter he has
been snowed in. Russel’s will gives Greg first rights to
purchase
Russel’s house. Grab and Bettie would love to downsize
but they had
no offers on their place when it went on market. They
are going to
relist it come March but it will take a special buyer to
appreciate
their beautiful heritage home. Many of the pieces in the
home could
be found in a museum. The upkeep is getting too much for
them,
especially since they are still taking care of Russel’s
place. Mac
is in Alberta and doesn’t want to buy so the lawyer
taking care of
the estate wants to offer the place to Barb and Russel’s
nieces and
nephews before putting it on open market. So if any of
you want to
purchase, let them know. More importantly if you know
anybody who
would like Greg’s gorgeous home pass the info on.

From Doug
As
is
too often the case, this has been a difficult week so
I’ll just
talk about the music that is keeping me sane.
We
had
our music gig at the gondola this past Sunday and as
far as I’m
concerned, it went absolutely great. There were lots
of friends and
neighbors there which was very nice, and there were
lots of normal
customers as well which is normal and expected.
Everyone seemed to
have a good time, lots of toe tapping and heads
bobbing to the music.
It was a bit too hot in there for everyone as the sun
was shining
through the big windows but not much could be done
about that. Jane
and I played from noon until 3 with a couple of short
breaks that
gave us a bit of time to chat with various people.
What was really
cool was when
we went back on Monday morning for our usual coffee. We
were greeted
like celebrities by the kids that work there. That
surprised me
because our music is not what I’d have expected that age
group to
appreciate but they were all quite excited about what we
had done and
how we sounded. It was a good time.
On Wednesday when
Sue was at
the day program, Jane came over so we could try to
finish one of the
songs we’ve been working on recording. This one is an
old Crosby,
Stills and Nash song called Teach Your Children Well.
Its a fun song
and goes over very well when we play it for others. I
have noticed in
the playback that there are some spots where I can hear
finger noise
on my base guitar strings and I haven’t had any
opportunity to redo
that track. Hopefully I’ll manage to do that soon. In
the meantime,
enjoy what we have. Jane takes the lead, I do the
harmony (all very
obvious when you listen to it).
