It is still very
hot and very
dry. After dodging the proverbial bullet all the way
into the early
summer (not counting the forest fire just that had been
just north of
town earlier), forest fires are erupting at an alarming
rate. Several
per day! And ALL are human caused. THIS HAS TO STOP!!
The whole
southern BC is under a total fire ban and yet morons are
having camp
fires that end up becoming forest fires, accidental
equipment
failures and car crashes are starting forest fires, and
so on. Human
stupidity knows no bounds.
We had a bear visit
again this
week. Sue and I were sitting out on the back deck one
afternoon and a
mid sized black bear came strolling up onto the rock at
the south end
of the deck. He looked at us, we at him, then he just
shrugged and
continued on his way. It was kind of cool.
The crows are
continuing to
come by, several times a day, for handouts. Now however
its not just
Beaky, its her partner and their 2 almost adult
offspring. Beaky has
now taken to not just looking in the front window but
also sitting on
the deck chair and looking in the back window. If she
can’t get our
attention, she knocks on the window. We had started to
hand out dry
cat food in order to supplement the wieners, pizza,
bread, table
scraps and so on that we’ve been supplying to them. They
seem to
like the cat food, its not messy, and its easy to deal
with. Win win
for everyone.
