The
heat
wave broke this week but the whole province is deadly
dry and
there are fires all over the place as well as in
Alberta. In fact,
the resort town of Jasper has burned. Or at least a good
part of it.
The kids were in the Occanogan this week and they could
see fires in
and around that area. So far we have been lucky but that
could change
in the blink of an eye.
I’ve
finally
had my first bowls of blueberries from my patch. The
cold wet
spring kept them from ripening until the head and
sunshine started at
the beginning of July. Now they are coming along nicely
and I’m
picking a small bowl each day but the birds are getting
to them and
destroying most just as they ripen. So, I’m having to
pick them a
bit on the green side. Better than nothing I guess.
Of
course
we had Poppy here for the week. She likes the small town
dog
life style, the interacting with other ‘real’ dogs, and
so on.
She also likes Ryan coming to get here and take her
home. So do we.
