Visit
the
kids for the day…..
We
popped
down to Maple Ridge to visit with the kids on Monday.
They
(Ryan) had decided to remove a wisteria shrub that was
taking over
his back yard and needed my truck to haul the
cut-up-shrub away. So
to that end I removed the box cover which is easy, and
we headed
down. Turned out he had only ‘started’ to dismantle the
shrub and
we ended up finishing the job. In all fairness, he had
been out on
the Adam’s tour for about 6 weeks straight and them
ended up doing
a down town Vancouver festival which required about 16
hr per day for
a whole week so there’s that. Anyway, loaded up all his
back yard
waist and took it to the transfer station and the job
was done, or so
I thought. Sue kept working away at cleaning up his back
yard and
ended up with half a dozen or so big yard waste bags
full of weeds
and sticks and so on he used the truck to haul that load
away as
well.
I
had brought along some ‘upgrades’ for his RE and once we
had the
yard work finished we installed the parts. That included
the front
fender rising kit, cleaning the relay switch connections
and
replacing the oem relays with better aftermarket units,
and replacing
the eom spark plug with a better unit. This is all the
same thing’s
I’ve done to my RE. I took his RE out for a short toot
around his
block. It feels and sounds and runs exactly like mine
which is should
because except for paint color, they are identical.
Then
after
supper we headed for home. I’ d wanted to get home
before
dark because my eyes just can’t see well enough in the
dark for
safe driving. We got home just before dark so it was a
good day. Kyra
was in a good mood, Olivia was being a spoiled brat.
Nothing a good
spanking wouldn’t take care of but we’re not aloud to do
that
kind of thing these days.
My
poor
blueberries and everything else…..
My
blueberries
should be almost over by now but instead they are just
starting to ripen, or at least what there is of them. I
have just
picked my first handful and it’s past mid July. There
are very few
berries on some of the plants, none on the others. In
fact, I’ll be
lucky to just keep some of the plants alive this year.
The year
started out way too cold and wet for most blossoming
plants to
blossom and by the time they did it was already past
when their fruit
should be starting to ripen, and basically too late. The
pollinating
insects and bees were dealt a terrible blow by the cold
that never
stopped. Then, when it did, it went right into heat and
drought. My
plants are dying and we are not supposed to water
anything because
water has become a scarce commodity. I’ll cheat a bit
and water
once in a while in hopes of saving the blueberry patch
but only time
will tell.
BC
is
burning. Vast amounts of forest are blazing. Farm land
is in ruin.
Idiots are still starting camp fires and or throwing the
smoking
butts out their vehicle windows. We as a species keep
proving over
and over that we don’t deserver to survive. It’s that
simple.

This
series
of ‘unpublished’ issues is my way of keeping track of
what
I’ve been up to during the summer when we are not
sending out the
normal Squamidian. No one knows about these issues but
that’s ok.
This also keeps the issue number in sync with the
passing weeks.
