Hey There,

Barking crow.

I had an interesting interaction with one of the crows that hang around expecting handouts. It (probably she but who knows) had been looking in the deck window trying to get our attention so I brought it a few wiener scraps. Normally it would wait over on the fence or on a tree branch until I’d go back into the house before returning for said treat. This time I decided to sit quietly on a deck chair and see what it would do. It came back, a bit suspiciously of me, but then relaxed and ate the meat. It then settled down and relaxed, glancing at me as it sat there. I’d ‘talk’ to it and it would look at me. A dog barked a few houses behind us and the crow barked in response, a perfect imitation of the dog. It then looked at me and mumbled some strange gibberish type words as if it assumed I’d know what it was saying. The dog barked again, and the crow again mimicked the barks, then said something to me, again. It was all quite cool.

Brunch in Whistler.

On Monday of this week we had ridden to the gondola for morning coffee. Instead of heading straight home afterward, we headed up the highway to the Wildwood in Whistler. We used to go there quite regularly but haven’t been there in several years. The prices have gone way up but thats the case everywhere. The food was good and that’s what maters. As usual, the left turn light at Function Junction wouldn’t trip so I had to ‘blow’ the red and make my turn after waiting a few light cycles. We’ve had to do this before when my motorcycle couldn’t trigger the light at a given intersection. Oh well. The ride up was quite spectacular as was the ride back down. Clear, sunny and the right temperature for riding. We just puddled along at the speed limit, with all the drivers in a hurry passing us. Mind you, they’d have been passing us if I’d been riding 15 or 20 over the limit. That seems to be how it is these day.

Porteau Picnic.

On Tuesday we (us and our riding group) did another picnic at Porteau Cove. As per usual, we rode down to Horseshoe Bay were we hooked up with the other riders for the ride back up to the cove. At the insistence of a guy who has grown too old for his big heavy HD Electra Glide and now rides a CanAm Spider, Sue rode up to the cove on the back of his Spider. She found the 3-wheeled bike to be quite comfortable but his driving to be rather scary. The picnic was great, the scenery was great. The company was great.

This series of ‘unpublished’ issues is my way of keeping track of what I’ve been up to during the summer when we are not sending out the normal Squamidian. No one knows about these issues but that’s ok. This also keeps the issue number in sync with the passing weeks.
