Hi
All,
Not
much
to talk about or say this week. But wow, pollen season
is
suddenly here. It is
over a month late but it got here this week and sure hit
hard. Those
of us, including me, who suffer from seasonal allergies
know how
miserable it can be. Constantly running nose, eyes so
itchy you’d
like to scratch them right out of your head. Sneezing.
Feeling like
you got hit by a truck, and so on. And there is so
little you can do
about it. Antihistamines can only help so much, from
there on you are
on your own. Hook up a toilet paper roll to
you belt for instant nose blowing, carry a wet towel
around for
wiping your eyes, and so on. And then endure until the
next rains
wash the pollen out of the air, and endure further as
you wait for
the season to be over. It’s a yearly drudgery that can’t
be
avoided and now we are in it again. Pro tip… buy stock
in Kleenex
or some such product, you can’t go wrong.
Thats
pretty
well all I’ve got for this week with the exception of
this
weeks obligatory musical interlude.
This
week’s
video is a CCR song called ‘Have You Ever Seen The
Rain’.
Not much to say about it. Done the way they did it, it
was southern
country rock. Done the way I do it, it is soft and
laid-back folk. It
did well for them way back when they were ‘big’, so many
of you
will probably recognize the tune. So, give it a listen
and look if
you are so inclined.

You
Ever Seen The Rain

About
Russ
Many
of
us have been wondering where Russ is and/or if he is ok
as we have
not heard from him lately. I received some info from
Wayne, and the
same info from Rosy. He is in the hospital due to a
kidney infection.
Once he is can leave the hospital he will go to a
seniors home where
they have the necessary facilities to care for him until
he is strong
enough to go home. The care home is in Ripley, close to
where his
step-son Greg lives.
That
seems
to be all anyone knows for now. Hopefully he will make a
smooth
recovery and be able to go home soon.

ONTARION
REPORT
Hello
everyone!
Well,
it
didn’t take long from start (Registration) to first
injection of
our vaccination for Covid-19! I phoned into the
registration office
only minutes after seeing on the news that our age group
qualified
for the first shot. They told me then that they would
contact me via
e-mail within a few weeks but would we be available to
attend in
short notice if they called earlier and of course I said
Yes to
that! Well, I had called in last Friday and they sent me
a date the
next day, for the following Tuesday for both Carole and
I to go to
the U of W Pharmacy campus building on Victoria St to
receive the
first shot! We had to be at the site 10 minutes before
our allotted
time. Of course we followed their instructions and
within a half hour
of our arrival we were walking out the door to our car.
They told us
as we finished up for that shot that we would receive
another e-mail
within a few weeks telling us when our second shot would
be scheduled
for. By the time we got home 15 minutes later I checked
my e-mail and
they had already sent a note telling us that we were to
attend the
same building on July 13th to receive our second and
final shot at
3:30 pm that day. I am amazed at how efficient they have
been at
getting us through the system! The doctor at the site
told me that
two weeks after receiving my first shot I would be
protected 99% and
after the second shot in July I would be totally
protected from
getting very ill from any contact with Covid-19. This
means that I
could still get the virus but would not be deathly ill
from it or
need hospitalization! After waiting and being isolated
for well over
a year to avoid catching the virus this is very good
news indeed!
Along with all the other good news I’ve had regarding my
health
lately I’m a happy man!
My
head
has totally healed up from my fall two weeks ago and all
of the
stress and pain I’ve endured for the skin cancer on my
scalp over
the past three months has been successful in curing that
problem as
well. I was to the specialist yesterday and he told me
that he is
totally happy with the success of the treatment for
curing the cancer on my scalp! Consequently, so am I! It
was very painful and
uncomfortable but it’s been worth all the pain to have a
successful
outcome! From now on, I’ll be wearing a hat whenever I
venture out
into the sunshine of the day no matter whether it’s
summer or any
other time of the year. Just not worth taking the chance
of going
through all that again!
To
change
the subject, I called the Service Ontario office the
other day
an asked if I needed to purchase a new license sticker
for the MGB
and I was told that until the pandemic is over, I can
drive the MG
with the old sticker that expired on December2020 on the
plate. So
that saved me another $120.00 at least until the
pandemic is declared
over! If this nice weather keeps up, I may just get the
MG out early
this year and have a good long season of enjoyable
driving! I’ve
seen quite a few motorcycles out and about this past
couple of weeks
so why not a convertible sports car? So far, it looks
like we’re in
for a good hot summer this year!
That’s
it
for this week folks! Thanks for tuning in and I’ll look
forward
to talking to you all again next week in The Ontarion
Report!
Bye
for
now … Greg
Something
To
Think About!
Getting
that BBQ all cleaned up for the summer’s Grilling!
