The Ontarion
Hi All,
Just got back from a 3-day ride into the BC Interior. Not enough time to write about it for this week but I’ll have something ready for next week.
*
Funny how things work, we were starting to think the spring rains would never end back in June and then just before July got here, they ended. Now its been a month with pure sunshine and not a drop of rain. At least officially. We got caught in a downpour while riding through Whistler a couple of weeks ago but that doesn’t count because the measuring is done at YVR, the Vancouver airport. Anyway, as anyone who watches the weather network or the National news knows, pretty well all of southern BC is under an extreme fire alert. That means no open fires or fire sources of any kind. As per usual, most of the fires that are breaking out are still human caused. Doesn’t seem to sink in with some people that THEIR cigarette butts are starting fires. Same with campers, somehow THEIR camp fire that shouldn’t have been in the first place can be left burning when they pack up and leave. Just like with the drivers I complained about last week, there just isn’t any cure for stupid.
And interesting side to this west coast drought is that the birds are having a hard time finding food. Normally at mid summer the hummingbirds would be enjoying a bounty of natural flowers, blossoms and blooms. They’d be ignoring the hummingbird feeders. This summer, as in now, they are swarming the feeders. It’s the only place they can find the liquid nectar they need. They also eat insects when they can get them but rely on nectar, and the natural version has dried up. What should be a nice juicy flower center is crispy and brown. Same with the berry eaters. Last year was a bumper crop for my blueberries and so this year they are quite sparse. What few are there are being eaten by the robins and some little grey bird I can’t identify. Oh well, I can buy berries in the store, the birds can’t. So if they need some of my crop to survive I guess that’s ok.

OK, I’ve got it figured out. And I know how to fix it. We need another tax, a world-wide tax that will force those of us who are consumers to stop or at least cut back on our consumption of the offending item. A tax that will of course pad the pockets of those in a position to capitalize on this levy, and give every level of government more of our hard earned and dwindling supply of earnings or savings. Its not at all like the ridiculous carbon tax that simply takes so much from the many and hands it all over to the privileged few while playing a big shell game and accomplishing nothing. My proposed tax will solve everything and punish those of us responsible for the plight of the planet. We MUST start now, we MUST impose a tax on the use and consumption of photons. Yes, those tiny quantum things that can be a particle, or can be a wave. Better known to us as SUN LIGHT. We have been squandering our use of light, taking it for granted and thinking it is free just because it is seemingly beamed down from the sun. This over-use and over-consumption of sunlight has set the world on a path of damaging change, and we all know how much the human race hates any kind of change.
I’ve done extensive research and studies that reach back for weeks and even months. Well, I gave it some thought while in the shower the other day. This has happened before in our world’s history, and now we are spiraling down toward another happening that will be every bit as bad, perhaps even worse than last time. You see, due to our over consumption of light, the hours of daylight each day are now starting to shorten and conversely and horrifyingly, the hours of darkness are starting to grow, almost as if they are somehow related. It is fairly subtle right now but within a few short weeks the trend will be quite noticeable and within a few short months the damage will be done. Even the most distracted person will not be able to help noticing the startling and dangerous absence of daylight at each end of the day, of PHOTONS from the sun.
Only an immediate and heavy tax from all levels of government can help us now. Only a tax on photon use can alter this impending doom. Yes, it has happened before and we survived, but the memory of the masses is very short and we certainly won’t remember the last time with any clarity or how we did manage to survive and pull through. And while this impending disaster is effecting the northern hemisphere quite differently than the southern, don’t pay any attention to that. The facts will simply confuse the issue. Jump on the band-wagon now, before it is too late. Before it is dark by early evening. Stand up and demand another tax, another tax that will protect us from ourselves and make the rich and powerful even more powerful and rich.

THE ONTARION REPORT
Hello everyone!
I don’t have a clue
what to write about this week so I guess I’ll just put my 2 cents in regarding
what’s been in the news lately. First and foremost I can’t seem to get the
Toronto Police shooting out of my mind! When I watched the cell phone video
taken by the citizen watching the events unfold I was totally shocked and when
it finally sank in, I found myself totally appalled by the police officer’s
actions! In the first place, the kid was of no danger to anyone but himself and
it didn’t seem that he was intent on harming himself. Even the bus driver felt
safe enough to get back on the bus and sat down to try to talk the kid into
putting the knife away. When that didn’t work, he did what the young lad told
him to do and left the bus a second time.
I believe it was
only 6 minutes after that when the police officer opened fire on the kid! What
the hell? Why in the world would it be necessary to shoot the lad let alone
empty your nine shot clip into him? With the first three shots hitting their
mark, he was already down on the floor of the streetcar and I’m damned sure he
wasn’t getting up to make any threats or sudden moves! I’d like someone to tell
me why this jerk cop felt it necessary to pump six more shots into the young
man while he lay bleeding on the floor? Was the cop afraid he was going to
crawl off the trolley and stab him in the foot with his Swiss Army pocketknife?
My God what is this world coming to when something such as this happens? Now
the Toronto police force is scrambling to find some way to justify this rogue
cops actions! What ever happened to containing the person with the knife and
making an attempt to talk him into putting the knife away and surrendering
peacefully? The police in that situation didn’t even try to talk to him! All
they did was scream at him to “Drop the knife, drop the knife!” and after 8
minutes of being on the scene the shots rang out and a young life was snuffed
out! If this kid had shot the cop, he’d have either been blown to bits by the
other 22 cops on the scene or he’d have been arrested and charged with murder
within hours of his arrest. How come the cop that killed him in cold blood
isn’t being charged as quickly? In stead, he’s been given time off with pay no
less, until the cops can come up with some half baked defense of his actions!
The shooting of this young person is totally indefensible and the Toronto
Police Dept will be very lucky if they don’t wind up dealing with a full-scale
riot in the next few weeks over this situation. I don’t blame the whole
department for this incident but on the other hand, surely to heck they have
Standard Operating Procedures that they train their officers to go by in
situations like this! Next thing you know they’ll be shooting people in Toronto
for parking violations!
I hope they solve
this crime quickly and don’t try to pull the wool over the eyes of the public
by making up excuses for this fool of a cop! He should be charged and made to
stand trial for what he’s done! There is no excuse for shooting the young man
involved when they had plenty of time to talk him down not gun him down! It’ll
be very interesting to follow this story to the end!
I’ll be watching the
progression and hope the Toronto Police to the right thing!
That’s enough for
this week folks!
Thanks for tuning in
and I’ll look forward to talking to you all again next week in The Ontarion Report!
Bye for now … Greg

Think About>
If you are carrying a Swiss Army Knife on your key chain, leave it at home when you go to Toronto!
