Hi All,
This past week has included lots of stuff
to catch my attention.(Most of my regular
readers know that the hard part is to keep my attention.) Last Sunday
ended with some faily heavy rains. Monday dawned overcast and chilly. By mid
morning the clouds broke and the sun came shining through. The high country up
in the mountains was brilliant white.
What was rain down in the lower elevations and along the coast was snow up
above about the 4000 foot level.
As Whistler is surrounded by mountains, it
was spectacular. Down in Squamish, the local higher peaks were covered, right
down to below Brohm Ridge. To give some prospective, the Chief is about 2000
feet high so the snow level was twice as high up as the to of the Chief. The
Whistler valley is at about 2500 feet.
Tuesday morning was cold and clear, with a
great Norther Lights display for me to look at as I got ready for work.
Tuesday was Ev and Ed's last day here. They
had gotten back from the Island on the weekend and used Monday and Tuesday to
rest and relax. They took Sue and I out for supper, to the Eagles Nest which I
thought was expensive but 'world traveller' Sue says is quit reasonable. Warren
dropped in when we got home for a short visit with them, then we did some
tunes. Problem with work nights is that I can't stay up very late. Ev and Ed
left for Vancouver on Wednesday morning, flying back to Kitchener on Thurday.
The machine I run is down with a blown
hydrolic pump so there is no work for me. That gives me the rest of the week
off. And I still can't stay up late. I get up to see Sue off to work. She is
doing Richmond this week. I think she is in Edmonton next week.
Because I've got some time off, Warren
asked me if I'd go into the city with him to help pick up the components of the
kitchen for the upper house. What a waisted day. I will never ever go into Ikea
again in my whole life. It took 2 hours
for them to finally discover that most of it wasn't there, even though
they had phoned Warren to tell him to come and pick it up. We finally ended up
insisting they deliver it, and wave the delivery charge as we had driven all
the way in for nothing.
Figured I'd better get some things done
around here so I installed the hardware on our kitchen cabinets on Thursday.
Sue had bought them a couple of weeks ago and they have been sitting on the
counter where I couldn't ignore them much longer.
Sue called from her Richmond audit, she had
locked her keys in the truck. (I have no idea how you lock keys in the truck
but she managed.) Anyway, new cars come with road side assistance so we phoned
them and they sent someone out to break in and unlock it. All worked out OK.
Dropped her car at the dealer on Friday
morning as it's over due for it's first oil change and once over. She took the
bus into the office as the audit was finished on Thursday. I've spent the day
replacing the last of the old out door lights and organizing my work bench. I
sure have a lot of junk to deal with.
Friday evening we went to the Brackendale
Art Gallery with Warren and Janice where a harpist was playing. Got kind of
board after a while. She was singing rather preachy songs and going way
overboard in selling herself. Guess I'm just not 'high brow' enought.
Saturday (today) we took a load of junk to the dump. Most of it was stuff the previous owners of this house left behind. If I knew where they lived, I'd have dumped the stuff on their driveway. Sue wouldn't let me look them up.
