                      I just loved seeing
                        your music
event and wished I could have been there to enjoy. It
                        was so
successful and so many were there. You must be overjoyed
                        and
thrilled. You will need to keep that up. Thanks so much
                        for the
picture of Sue and her sister.....they sure were happy.

                      We have been as
busy as ever keeping our greenhouse and gardens watered
down what with no rain for
many days. We have a spring that has kept us going. They
                        keep
promising rain but then it goes somewhere else.

                      The fall colours
                        are showing
itself even though the trees are dry. We have a great
                        life here.

                      Visit to Edinburg

                      The train took us
                        through
steep rolling hills into a cool and windy Edinburg.
                        There were hordes
and hordes of people, many in winter coats. Edinburg has
                        maintained
its' old word charm (no high rises etc. in the core)
                        and, as a
result, draws tourists all year round. We skipped the
                        castle and
Holyrood since we had done those before. Instead, we did
                        a hop on -
hop off tour. Our first stop was to wander through the
                        delightful
Royal Botanic Gardens with its' "cool" trees and rock
garden. Then on to St. Giles Cathedral on the Royal
                        Mile. We also
hopped off at "old town" where we strolled along the
colourful streets inspired by the Harry Potter books and
                        lunched in
its' oldest pub that had also hosted many famous people
                        over the
centuries. We watched some pipe bands (me from a
                        distance !) at the
Mound on Princes St. The young players were from one of
                        the few
schools that still teach piping and drumming. Our trip
                        down pipe band
memory lane included having lunch with a lovely lady,
                        Morag, who gave
Dave a plaque with the Shotts crest made by her brother
                        Jim Hutton (a
long long ago Shott's drummer). That plaque probably
                        doubled our
weight load! We also went to a band practice in the town
                        of Shotts
where Dave played when he lived in Scotland. Enough of
                        that - off to
                        Glasgow (next week)

                      Hello fellow
                        Squamidians. Hard
to believe October is here already. September weather
                        was amazing but
too dry. We had to turn the heat on in August for a few
                        days. We even
had a slight frost. Haven’t had the heat on or a frost
                        since then.
The garden is slowing down but still producing. We went
                        to Kitchener
last Saturday to pick up a snowblower Tim and Heidi gave
                        us. Anton
brought it up from Ridgetown. That saved us a lot of
                        driving. It only
took about 3 1/2 hours to get to Kitchener. We had a
                        nice visit with
Carol and Al. Gale and Dave dropped by for a nice visit
                        too.
Unfortunately the only route is the 401. It was bumper
                        to bumper
crawling traffic from just east of hyway 8 so we
                        splurged and went on
the 407. Traffic was moving well the rest of the way
                        home but it took
                        an extra hour.

                      We’ve returned to
                        the normal
cool wet west coast conditions that are expected this
                        time of year.
The weather change a week ago was led by a low cloud
                        bank that moved
in off the Strait of Georgia and flooded into our
                        valley. It was then
followed by a higher up full overcast but it was quite
                        picturesque in
the beginning. We enjoyed a front row viewing seat from
                        the comfort
of our morning coffee corner as we watched the front
                        move in.

                      This pic is looking
                        south down
the Sound, with a bit of Vancouver Island visible if you
                        know where
                        to look in the pic.

                      This pic is looking
                        west
across the top end of the Sound. Its much like a bath
                        tub ready to
overflow with whipping cream (not that I’ve ever
                        actually seen a
                        bathtub full of whipping cream).

                        just west of
north with Alfa Mnt in the distance. It was dark and
                        gloomy below,
                        bright and interesting above.

                      I had done a bare
                        bones video
of the song ‘The Way I Am’ and had it ready for
                        uploading but had
not linked it yet. I had however linked the audio
                        version for the
Squid a couple of weeks ago. Now I’ve got that video
                        version
uploaded and linked for this week. All you need to do is
                        click this
link and watch the video, should you be so inspired.
