THE ON THE ROAD SQID LITE

issue 1114

Hi Guys,

Well, I guess we are on our way to Ontarible because I’m attempting to write this on my iPad from a motel room in the rather scungy town of Moose Jaw Sask.

BC was dark and wet all the way to the Alberta border. At that point the sun came out and the temperature rose about 20 degrees and the cost of gas dropped by almost a dollar. BC’d Lower Mainland has the highest gas prices in North America and it’s all because of the taxes.

The Crowsnest Pass section sure is beautiful country as you transition out onto the prairies. We had to take that route as highway 1 is currently closed through the Kicking Horse pass due to construction. Beyond that I can’t say much except that we might get to the KW area by about Tuesday or so. So, see you there.

Russ sent the following so here it is. And no, this is Not a second honey moon. It’s just our last chance at our age to do a road trip across the country. So there.

Thursday, September 28th - today Doug and Sue leave Squamish, BC on a road trip which they estimate will take 5 or 6 days - their destination; The Old Homestead in Kitchener, Ont. Why didn't they fly, you ask? Answer; Doug hates flying - period. He complains we're herded like cattle in the airports - wasting precious time just waiting - then packed into aircraft like sardines, with no room for legs, arms, or anything!

But, 5 or 6 nights on the road, staying in motels?? You can't fool us - this trip is in reality,

a SECOND HONEYMOON! Enjoy - but use "protection" - you don't want a "late-in-life pregnancy" at this stage!

Looking forward to seeing you "love-birds" at the homestead on Saturday, September 14th.

Russ.
