A Note From Greg

A Note From Russ

Hey there, its me…..

As I assume you are aware and hopefully noticed, we took the summer off from writing this newsletter called the ‘Squamidian Report’. Our last official issue was at the end of May. I had indicated that we would pole the people on our mailing list to see if anyone was still interested in receiving this letter and in being somewhat involved in this letter if we were to possibly start back up at the end of the summer. At the time there was a surprising response in favor of continuing. (And yes, I remember who all was involved in that conversation). At least it took me by surprise because it had started to feel like Greg and Russ and I were simply writing to ourselves. In the interim, Greg and Russ and I have chatted back and forth and have agreed that it would be a shame to let a 20 yr tradition fall by the wayside but at the same time if there is not sufficient interest, there would therefore be no sense in flogging a dead horse, so to speak.

So, with that in mind, this letter is being sent out to each name on our mailing list to find out who is still on board. There are 2 requirements to agreeing to be on what would be the ‘new’ mailing list.

1: You MUST reply to say you would like to continue receiving this letter. I will not assume anyone wants to be no matter who you are. We need to hear from you.

2: You MUST agree to be somewhat involved on a regular basis, preferably by contributing, but failing that, at least responding to what others have written as often as possible.

If I do not hear from you by the end of the month, you will be dropped from the list and will not receive future family newsletter issues. (You could of course be put back on at a later date simply by indicating a desire to be and agreeing to the terms).

Greg and Russ and I have not yet decided on what would constitute a ‘minimum’ number of subscribers, a number large enough to make it feel worth while for us and others to put in the effort of coming up with ‘something’ each week. If enough of you indicate a desire to continue and to be involved, we won’t have to bicker over what that threshold would be.

Should we decide to continue, we would start back up for the first Saturday of September. So, lets see who all we hear from, because lets face it, it would be nice to keep this thing going.

A Note From Greg

Thanks to all who did participate over the years and if we restart this fall please keep your promises to be involved!

Doug, Russ and I do enjoy writing but not to an empty audience!

Hope to talk to you all again for sure in September!

Sincerely…Greg

Further to Doug's letter - actually there is no further as Doug has laid it all out in plain language and covered all bases.

Personally, I hope we carry on with the Great Squamidian Report - it may be selfish of me, but I enjoy communicating with you each Saturday morning. I don't get to visit any of you, so hearing from you once-in-a-while is encouraging, and a real treat. Please don't deprive me of this.
